one of the central tenets of conspiracy theory is that you should question everything. Peer, question, analyse. Probe. Don’t take the given as a given. Have an open mind. Process thoughts. Be free and true to yourself.
so they say.
the reality is much different. Being on the edge, and taking seriously some of these conspiracy theories will mark you out from society. At the very least your friends will think you’re kooky, and any traditional career advancement paths will be blocked for you. ‘Coming out’ as a Conspiracy Theorist is a death knell for social acceptance.
so be careful before you step onto this path.
The Disinformation Podcast has been running for a year now. It is a monthly, thirty minute wrapup of all the latest news and events – hosted by Raymond and Joe. The presentation lags at times, but the material is interesting and engaging. Ad / sponsor breaks are a little too frequent for my liking, but disinfo.com is a commercial enterprise; I can get over that (ie. use the fast forward button
)
the internet is littered with conspiracy sites of all sorts, but the podcast space is quite unusually little populated. Maybe it takes too much effort for those crackpots. Anyone can conjecture, but it takes effort to promote and prove. Such is the simultaneous weakness and strength of Questioning.

one of the most contentious theories of recent times is that 9/11 was an inside job – that the official story is an outright lie, and possibly an inside job. It is a challenging and troubling theory.
so what does one do? one sees the twin towers come crumbling down, collapsing into it’s own foundations, one sees World Trade Center 7 self demolate on the same day, even though no plane struck it. One sees … and one marvels – what really happened?

there are in-numerable 9/11 conspiracy sites out there. They prefer to call themselves the ‘Truth Movement‘ to throw off the stigma of the x-files and ufo’s – this is no ordinary Conspiracy Theory. There is video, there is eyewitness testimony, there is the timeline, there is digital evidence. 9/11 is a watershed moment in the collective pursuit of truth.
Visibility 9/11 is a podcast that has been running for 4 years. Hosted by Michael Wolsey, it is a professional, serious, and analytical presentation of various lines of independent investigation. Each episode centers around an expert guest who presents their view and supporting evidence. Shows go for around an hour, and raise some very troubling questions. If you have an open mind, you owe it to yourself to at least consider the possibility that the 9/11 story has not yet been fully told. Listen, observe, and weigh for yourself.

this is a twice weekly podcast from two internet legends: John C. Dvorak, long time columnist for PC Magazine and host of the Cranky Geeks Show, and Adam Curry; former MTV host, and a proponent of podcasting from the early days. Both are formidable personalities, and have strong and articulate opinions. Both are also well versed in the arts of media manipulation, and can deconstruct what is going on in the world around us. Shows are 90 minutes long and are totally donation supported.

The podcast began as an informal chat between two friends, and has evolved into a smorgasbord of analysis and tangential segways. Conspiracy Theory seems to feature highly in their “No Agenda” agenda, and it is quite astonishing to see this field given some serious consideration. I was certainly not expecting the subject of orgone and Wilhelm Reich to come up!
a constant theme of the show is how conditioned modern human beings are. We live in a constant matrix of information that is controlled from on-high. Just exposing this simple fact is a service enough. But the other insights that John (the Buzzkill) and Adam (the Crackpot) bring to the table are pure gold. We are talking about years of profound experience.
there are lots of funny clips in this show, and lots of laughs to be had beside the serious material.

one of the functions of the arts has always been to speak the truth to power. And such has been the role of music. When beats are combined with the spoken word, you have material to move the masses. Witness the explosive psychedelic 60’s. And so today, when music has been watered down to a commercially peddled mash, true art lies at the edges; in the darkness and indie realms.
Hip Hop has borne the mantle of speaking for the black disenfranchised community. But since its birth, this revolutionary anarchic form has been adopted by communities around the globe; any group that feels marginalised and disenfranchised by the ruling elite – they flock to the subversive, aggressive truth-speaking form of Hip-Hop.
This ‘truth-speaking’ element of the arts blends well with the conspiracy realms; after all, any opinion that challenges the norm is, by definition, a ‘conspiracy’, ‘crackpot’. Such is the case with our consensus driven society.

Conspiracy Worldwide Hip Hop Radio is an addictive blend of music + interviews. The music sets the mood, the interviews tell the truth. Broadcast from the UK every Friday night, the show is released as a pair of podcasts each week. They are epic works; typically totaling 4 hours of material; no need to listen to it all – even a taste of the truth is enough to awaken the questing mind. The Truth Lives.
so yes, it is challenging. it presents alternative views. But it is reasoned, it is sound, logical. And it is art.
this show is new to me; but I’m hooked.
